Research Grants

The primary purpose of the Norman Beischer Medical Research Foundation is to improve the reproductive health of women and their babies. The Foundation pursues its purpose by providing funding for clinically based medical research performed in Australia leading to improved patient outcomes. The Foundation has a special interest in the prevention and treatment of gestational diabetes mellitus, as well as a preference for studies performed in Victoria. The Foundation also aims to nurture and support early career medical researchers.

The Foundation’s Research Subcommittee meets annually to review grant applications. Submissions are assessed by the Subcommittee members, and recommendations for grants are approved by the Board of Directors.

In the past, the Foundation has not generally issued grants for projects outside of Victoria, for travel expenses, or projects that are considered to fall within the responsibility of government.

Donations: Although to date our research grants have been funded by our own resources, the Foundation is an endorsed deductible gift recipient and would welcome donations for medical research projects compatible with the stated criteria for funding described on this website.
